  1. Would it be acceptable to have a DTR on the project, instead of a Registered Dietitian?

    Yes, you may have a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) or a Registered Dietitian.


  2. How do I apply for this grant program?

    Applicants must fill out and submit the online application form through on the Champions Grant website.


  3. Will hard copy applications be accepted?

    No, hard copy applications will not be accepted. All applications must be submitted online.


  4. Who is eligible to apply?

    Not-for-profit Organizations 501 c (3) and 509 (a) such as:
    Health Departments
    Government Agencies
    Schools and School Districts
    Native American Tribes
    And others
  5. If my organization has multiple youth programs focused on youth, can we apply for a grant for each program?

    No, please choose only your strongest program for this grants program.


  6. Is it acceptable to submit a grant application that is a collaboration between two or more organizations?

    Yes. However, you should choose one organization to receive the funds and administer them.


  7. What type of activity would fulfill the requirement for a physical activity component?

    The physical activity component should be measurable and promote either:
  8. If we receive the grant, can we apply again next year to keep the program going?

    In general, programs will be funded for one year only. One important part of the selection criteria for the grant is the sustainability of the program after the grant period is over. If your organization or agency initiates a new program, or uses the same program but targets a different population group, it would be appropriate to submit another proposal at that time.


  9. Do I need a General Mills plant in the area to apply for this grant?

    No, applicants are not required to be located in an area where a General Mills manufacturing facility is located.


  10. What is the timeline for the Champions for Healthy Kids grant program?
